STISSING RISING
After hiking, cross-country skiing, and snow-shoeing 120 acres of Shekomeko Valley woodlands, watching how the light fell on the land in all seasons, we chose this 20 acre site, facing westward toward the Stissing Mountain Range, on which to build. With classic timber-framing and warmly beautiful woodwork throughout, this family retreat combines the ease of an Aspen ski lodge with the rustic comfort of a New York country estate. The structural insulated panels which comprise its exterior walls, made from renewable resources, maximize energy conservation.
In the great room, floor-to-ceiling windows rise majestically to frame breathtaking sunsets, while a warm fire glows within. Flanking the heart of this home on one side—an inviting kitchen/dining area, with finely crafted cherry cabinets and granite countertops. On the other side, the master suite, opens onto the spacious deck, and the Catskill mountains beyond. Completing the picture of rural tranquility; a sun room, a guest house over a two car garage, a state-of-the art energy-efficient heating/cooling system, spa bathrooms, with sauna and steam baths, and three more well appointed bedroom suites for guests and family.
